the sun is shining today!

the sun is shining and the temps are supposed to rise well above freezing today! I don't think we can say goodbye to winter yet but we are starting to see signs of spring. the birds are chirping and the horses are starting to shed their winter coats a bit. i can actually see the ground today because a lot of the snow has started to melt. i've still got a turtleneck on, though. might as well get all the wear i can out of my winter clothes!

guy is in the studio making beads this morning. he's got a local oldies station on because that's about all we can get up here! it's fun sometimes to hear those flashes from the past. but it's even funnier that some songs from the 80's come on the station, too. they're considered oldies already i guess!

i was just gazing out the window in my kitchen at all the ducks taking advantage of the thawing snow. they haven't been able to bathe in fresh water in months! they are having a great time shaking off and rubbing water all through their bodies. these are the big white ducks with red, wart-filled beaks. they are all very friendly and tolerant with all the other animals here on the farm.

.....

i went out at lunch with my little camera which has a video button on it... so i shot some short and silent videos of life here on our friends farm. I uploaded a couple on Facebook, too...

intense red copper

i am now the proud owner of intense red copper hair. i have been avoiding dyeing my hair for the past 6 months or so. i was into the mindset that the outer body really has no significance - which i still agree with - but i just like to kick things up every-once-in-awhile. so at walmart last night i broke down and bought some hair dye. i started getting a few gray hairs a few years ago and they are still low in numbers but i guess that color just has a slight effect on me. i want to be the red-head i used to be. but back when my hair was more flaming red, i didn't exactly love it. i think it was the texture and the style that i couldn't get a handle on - which bothered me more than the color itself. why do we always want to be something else? i would mention to guy every so often that i'm never going to color my hair again. i'm going back to my natural color. which today is kind of auburn-brown-strawberry blonde. when i'm outside in the summertime it will turn a bit blonde so it's no big deal. he always wants me to dye my hair black! is he crazy? i think so.

anyways - this blog was meant to be about beads and glass and jewelry. so let me let you in on something... Guy has finally made some silver rings that we're ready to show the world! I listed two in our Etsy shop yesterday. Go check them out and let us know what you think. Guy is a perfectionist in many ways so making glass cabochons then setting them in silver proved to be a difficult process for him. Oh the life of a creative person!
